  • The Need

    Chelsea Campbell

Chelsea is a joyful, fun-loving 9-year-old born with Down syndrome, along with her identical twin sister, Charlotte. She loves books, Disney Princess movies, exploring nature, playing outside, and spending time with her siblings, including big brother Carter. Chelsea is also a beloved student at North Park Community School in Buffalo.

In June 2025, after weeks of illness and repeated ER visits, Chelsea was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Due to communication challenges and sensory sensitivities, Chelsea requires a parent by her side at all times during hospital stays, and her parents, JoAnnah and Twan, have been taking turns staying with her at Oishei Children’s Hospital. After five rounds of chemotherapy, Chelsea’s leukemia persisted, leaving her bone marrow severely damaged.

Because the cancer was chemo-resistant, Chelsea underwent a bone marrow transplant in December 2025. While the journey has been incredibly difficult, she was blessed with a generous 20-year-old donor who has given her a real chance at remission. Chelsea now faces a long recovery, including extended hospitalization, ongoing care at Roswell Cancer Institute, immunosuppressant medications, and strict precautions that will keep her out of school and public spaces for many months.

JoAnnah and Twan have exhausted their available leave and must remain out of work to care for Chelsea while supporting Charlotte and Carter at home. Though their lives are on hold, their bills continue. Sales of this design will help ease the financial burden at this time. Please consider a purchase or a donation to their online fundraiser.
