Volume 16, Shirt 18: "Introverted But"

In February of 2024, Leah went in to the ER for a suspected appendicitis. She found out she had a large abdominal mass. In April, after having the tumor removed, she was diagnosed with rare but aggressive form of cancer. At just 21, she began 6 months of treatments, procedures and major surgeries that have had life altering implications.

Leah is currently in remission and was able to return to her job as a special education teacher aide. However, she still has appointments for scans, follow ups and procedures. All of which mean more time off of work without pay.

Before her diagnosis, Leah was preparing to return to college to pursue a degree in special education or library science. Unfortunately, she had to use all of her savings during her 6 months off of work.
