  • The Need

    Ezra Toczek

Five year old Ezra Toczek from Alden has been struggling with liver issues since he was a baby. Over the past year, his liver function declined, and in January 2024 it was confirmed that his End Stage Liver Disease would require a transplant. In February, he was officially listed and his family was tasked with trying to recruit a living donor. At the end of May, his family learned that he had an approved donor, right in his own community! His former preschool teacher had kept her journey a secret until she was approved to donate a portion of her liver to him! Ezra’s liver team and transplant program are located in New York City, so this WNY family (and his donor) had to travel for the surgery, which took place early in August.

After several post-op complications, and an extended PICU stay, Ezra was finally released from the hospital on September 20th. Ezra and his mom are expected to remain in NYC for several more weeks for frequent follow up care, while the rest of the family is home, anxiously waiting for them to return (dad, 7 siblings, and 2 baby foster brothers).

All funds raised will help support Ezra and Karen while staying in NYC, as well as help with travel expenses for ongoing follow up care even after they return home. He has a long road ahead, but his strength, resilience, and determined spirit get him through the toughest days! Please consider a shirt purchase or a donation to his online fundraiser.

    Chiavetta’s Catering

Chiavetta's has been a BBQ staple in Western New York since we fired up the pit in 1954. For nearly seven decades, we've had the pleasure of serving mouthwatering BBQ to our community. Our story is one of tradition, and our hearts are deeply committed to Buffalo, the city we call home.

From our beginnings, we've grown to serve the community through parking lot pop-up chicken BBQ's, takeout, catering, and fundraising. Our core values of commitment, community, and tradition are not just words to us; they're the very essence of who we are. We're not just a BBQ destination; we're a part of the community's fabric, bringing people together through a shared food experience.
