    The Need

Bella is your typical American 15-year-old girl: she loves her family, friends, Jesus, dancing, playing tennis, baking, cooking, music, and performing. But on February 3, 2022, after weeks of complaining about blurred vision, Bella fell in her home, which resulted in a trip to Urgent Care. After a few tests and doctor referrals, a CT scan at Oishei Children's Hospital revealed a mass in the left cerebellum of her brain. A 2x2cm tumor was removed from her brain during a 9 hour surgery.  Gratefully the tumor was completely removed with no signs of spreading, but the pathology on the tumor came back as a medulloblastoma, a cancerous tumor. Bella officially had brain cancer. Her medical team both local and with NYU Langone Health advice, has her on an aggressive treatment plan to hopefully eradicate and ensure this cancer doesn’t come back.

Today, Bella is in the middle of her year-long treatment journey, which included six weeks of intensive proton beam radiation therapy, which she completed earlier this year in Somerset, NJ, and an aggressive chemotherapy program at Oishei’s Children’s Hospital and Roswell Park.

All donations from this fundraising campaign will be made to benefit The Courage of Carly Fund in honor of Bella to help other brave kids fighting cancer and blood disorders. You can also follow Bella's journey at bellasbattle.org.
