Olivia is a 12 year old girl diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), which is a rare fast spreading tumor at the base of the brain stem. It’s a terminal cancer that can be treated for a short while with radiation and chemotherapy, but unfortunately it always grows back. Most children live about 6 to 9 months after treatment. The tumor is currently affecting Olivia's walking, breathing, swallowing and many other physical functions. There are many clinical trials in the US that can be done after radiation, but most only give the children another 3 months with a few cases up to 2-3 years. Our goal as a family right now is to give her that little bit of time to spend with her family and friends and experience a fraction of life in a short time and enjoy it to the fullest. We hope with the radiation treatments and with the help and support of all the doctors, nurses, support staff and administrators at Oishei Children's Hospital, Roswell and the VNA we can accomplish that for her.

Olivia is from Wheatfield, New York. She lives there with her little sister, mom and two dogs. She loves skateboarding, swimming, Nintendo (of course), marvel movies (especially Spider-Man), rock climbing and reading. She was about to start taekwondo but her diagnosis put that dream to a halt.

Olivia has always been the one to enjoy the simple things in life, like going to school, seeing her friends, making pies with her Nana, eating pizza on movie night, and playing Uno. Those who know her may say she’s a little dramatic at times, which is true; she is one of those 0% to 100% type of personalities. Her zest for life either coasts at 0% where everything is calm and cool  OR at 100% where everything bothered her, mostly her sister .
