  • The Need

    Rachel Womer

    Rachel Womer, owner of "Fur the Love of Pets" in Perry, NY received news at the beginning of July that she had stage 2B Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with Lymph node involvement - Her2 positive. A very aggressive cancer diagnosis that requires a very aggressive and lengthy treatment. Rachel had no choice but to close her business temporarily as treatment began immediately.

    Chemo every 3 weeks for a total of 6 rounds. Though Rachel's platelets gave her some trouble, her providers made adjustments and her treatment continued. Rachel has really kept it together and has officially made it through the first part of treatment. She recently met with the team and her double mastectomy is scheduled for January 2026. Following the procedure she will finish the path of treatment with 6 rounds of immunotherapy, radiation 5 days a week for 5 weeks and finally reconstruction surgery.

    Rachel has a partner and 3 children at home. Her friends and family cannot wait to watch her beat cancer and reopen her grooming shop to continue doing what she loves.
