    The Need

Ryann Jean was born in February of 2020, right as the Covid 19 Pandemic was just starting in the United States. She was 6 weeks early and was 3lbs 15oz. Right away Ryann was taken to the NICU of Oishei's Children's Hospital. At that time it was discovered that Ryann had several birth abnormalities that are all mid-line meaning in a line down the middle of her body (cleft palate, abnormal forehead shape, large umbilical hernia). 6 weeks later we learned that Ryann has a deletion in her 9th chromosome in addition to many chromosomes to be in the shape of a ring. We later would learn that Ryann is a miracle. A person born with Chromosome ring 9 can have a large array of developmental delays and low muscle tone difficulties. Ryann is g tube dependent. She is unable to suck, swallow and breathe without aspirating. She has oxygen 24/7. Ryann's oxygen levels drop while sleeping. Ryann also is dealing with a cleft palate, metopic craniosynostosis, mild hearing loss, and developmentally she is about 3 months old, when in actuality she is 9.5 months. We would like to thank anyone and everyone that takes the time to read Ryann's story and donate. She is a very sweet baby that smiles all the time despite all the doctor appointments, needle sticks, and surgeries. Please consider a shirt purchase or a donation to the Wing family's online fundraiser. You can learn more about Ryann over at our blog.
