The Tyra family has been battling with their son's epilepsy diagnosis for a number of years now. Joey was diagnosed with this life-altering illness at the mere age of 5. When kids should be worrying about learning to ride without training wheels, Joey was burdened with the concern for medications, doctor's appointments, and breakthrough seizures. The type of epilepsy that he has is called cortical dysplasia. To make matters worse, this type of epilepsy is a medication-resistant epilepsy, so seizure medications will not work. His seizures have progressively gotten worse and more frequent over the years, to the point where he doesn't go more than a few minutes without some type of seizure activity, even in his sleep. As a result of his condition, Joey will need to undergo brain surgery. This surgery will hopefully be Joey's saving grace and allow him a better quality of life. As you can imagine, trips to and stays in Cleveland, where the best care is available, are expensive and we want to help! Please consider a shirt purchase or donation to Joey's online fundraiser.
