    The Need

The Tremblay family is a big, happy, loving, and giving family. Parents Matthew and Rachael are very active in their community, including both of them volunteering with their local Fire Department as firefighters and Rachael as an EMT. Matthew has a full time job, while Rachael stays home and teaches four of their five children; their second oldest son was diagnosed with autism, and he attends Summit. Matthew and Rachael provide a wonderful, full life for their children, and the family as a whole brings joy to many around them. In September 2019, Matthew was diagnosed with Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer, and had a 10cm (4 inch) tumor in his esophagus. Matthew recently completed five months of Chemo and Radiation therapy, and he underwent major surgery in February to remove much of the tumor. After a handful of complications, Matthew is now home and recovering well. He will continue to be monitored every 6 months by his oncology team, as this type of cancer unfortunately has a high rate of reoccurrence. Regardless, he is happy to be home with his family and on the up and up.

During this pandemic, he and Rachael have been spending their free time making masks to donate to local medical professionals. While Matthew is not yet 100% in the clear with his own health, he is still doing what he can to support those in need.
