The Need
Dawson was a package of two, but his mother's water broke at 22 weeks due to his sister, Josiah, having low fluid. Sadly, at 24 weeks and 2 days, his mom was rushed into an emergency c-section, giving birth to two beautiful children, but lost her daughter and Dawson's sister after 12 hours of life.
What came next was countless hours of Dawson clinging to life for just under 5 months in the NICU as he was born weighing 1 pound 7 oz. Dawson has been through 7 different procedures and is just shy of 7 months old. His battles are far from over, he still requires oxygen to live, has a g-tube for feedings, and has numerous appointments with different specialist every other week. He is currently facing two additional surgeries; one happening in June to try and correct a blind diagnosis in his left eye.
As a single mom, not only has this journey been difficult emotionally, but it has also hit hard financially as the family is facing eviction.
