On February 3, 2023, the coldest night of 2023 in Buffalo, the unthinkable happened to Yuri Hreshchyshyn. His house on the banks of the Buffalo River caught fire. Yuri was inside the house when the fire started, Buffalo Fire was on the scene promptly, as Yuri watched helplessly in the frigid temps from his car. During the fire, all of his personal possessions were lost.

For those of us who don't know Yuri, he is a friend to all, dedicated to causes near and far, a steadfast volunteer on projects that he has invested his time, talent, and treasure in. He truly has one of the biggest hearts in WNY! He is often busy doing a project for the betterment of the community, attending an evening planning meeting for the future of a neighborhood, or quietly donating money to help others in need.
