Sarah and her husband found out they were pregnant with twins in March of 2020 via fertility. Everything was smooth sailing until week 18 when they found out Baby B had a heart condition called ventricle inversion. He had a three chambered heart, needing three surgeries by the age of five and one as a newborn. After a traumatic labor & delivery, they were born premature at 30 weeks, weighing 3.8 and 2.8.

At around five and a half weeks, Matthew's abdomen looked distended. The doctors found out he also developed NEC (Necrotizing Colitis). Not even 24 hrs later he was rushed into surgery where they took 3/4th of this large intestine. Since his body was already compromised his heart could not recover from the surgery and his levels were a mess. Matthew went to heaven at just 6 weeks of life.

In total Benjamin (Baby A) was in the NICU for 55 days, but the family is blessed every day to have him happy and healthy.
