After what started as a routine evening making s'mores with her sisters and mom, Cadence’s life changed forever. On May 26, 2022, a freak accident at home with a small fire to roast marshmallows turned into a tragedy for the Czerniejewski family. As a result of a small explosion, 9 year old Cadence suffered 4th degree burns over more than 50% of her body, while 2 of her sisters suffered from 3rd degree burns, and 1 sister and her mom miraculously escaped without physical injury.At this time, the length of Cadence’s recovery, or whether she will make a full recovery, is unknown.  Cadence will undergo several skin graft surgeries, countless hours of physical and occupational therapy, as well as emotional recovery.

Her treatment is imperative to her survival. The expenses the family will incur will be ongoing for the foreseeable future, as her sisters remain in Buffalo with family, and mom and dad are in Rochester to be by Cadence’s side.
