J’Mari was diagnosed with Alagille syndrome after a genetic test confirmed he was positive for the Jag1 gene. It’s a genetic disorder that can affect the heart, liver, kidneys & more. J’Mari has an uncontrollable itch from his liver disease. He's been jaundiced since birth which will require a transplant to go away.

His cardiac issues are moderate and he just underwent a successful stent surgery on 9/1. While in recovery his family got the call that J’Mari is getting a New Liver! His surgery is set for 10/10. He and his family have been faithfully traveling to Pittsburgh from Buffalo since 2021. Travel, medications, and daily appointments are what make up their everyday life.
