    The Need

Karen was a single mother of an amazing 12-year-old boy named Dakota. When he was around 2 years old, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought this battle bravely for about 10 years.

Initially, chemo treatments would help but unfortunately the cancer kept coming back. Through her determination to live for her son, and many years of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, etc. she was able to watch her baby boy grow into the amazing 12-year-old boy that he is today. She had always put him first and fought to live so that she could raise him. She always kept a positive attitude about her diagnosis and stayed faithful in prayer.

Karen’s cancer spread to her liver in December of 2020 and into her brain in May of 2021. In June of 2021, she was re-hospitalized due to high levels of calcium in her blood. She received another blood transfusion and was told she had anywhere from a day to a month to live. Sadly, Karen passed on July 15th.

As of this writing we are not exactly sure what the immediate future holds for Dakota, but one thing is for sure, there is no shortage of people who care about him. By all accounts, Dakota is a great young man. Like his Mother he always puts the needs of others above his own and doesn’t want anyone to worry about him.

The money raised through this campaign will go directly to Dakota’s needs.
