    The Need

On December 10, 2020 Jose was diagnosed with COVID-19.  He was immediately transferred to the ICU where we got sicker by the day. Two weeks later, Jose was rushed to surgery to be put on a ventilator. Following surgery, he was in critical condition and was put into a medically induced coma for almost a month. Once the ventilator was removed, a tracheostomy and a feeding tube were put in and Jose lost 60 pounds.

After 2 months in the hospital, Jose was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Pennsylvania. He had to learn how to walk again as he lost all muscle tone from being in bed for all that time. After four months, Jose came home and his wife Cindy became his caregiver as well as still caring for their elderly parents.

Jose continued to suffer from the effects of COVID, including being put on a ventilator and into a medically induced coma once again. After a few days another tracheostomy was performed and he was put back on a feeding tube.

Cindy was laid off from her job in January 2022.  Jose’s medical bills exceed $1.5 million. and things have been extremely difficult for their family. Their faith in God has gotten them through these dark moments.  Jose is an amazing Husband, Father, Grandfather and the biggest Bills fan and member of the Mafia. He loves his family so much and he wants to live for them.
