    The Need

On October 5, 2021, Stephen Baker’s life was taken in a tragic car accident.   Steve left behind his wife of 14 years, Janelle Baker and his three children, Kinsley, Delaney and Lennon.  He was a teacher at the Warsaw Elementary School for 19 years. He was very involved with the athletic program where he served as a coach for junior varsity volleyball and the junior varsity and modified basketball teams.  He also ran the youth basketball program at the school and was president of the Youth Baseball board in Warsaw.

Steve was a huge fan of Duke basketball and Buffalo football.  At the memorial service that was held at the Warsaw Park, hundreds of people gathered and wore their Duke and Buffalo memorabilia in his honor.  Steve’s smile lit up a room and his laugh was contagious.  He genuinely cared about people and would go out of his way to help others and that is evident in everything he did for his community.

There is not a part of the community that did not feel this loss, as Steve has touched many lives in his short time.  To honor Steve a scholarship fund has been set up and will be awarded to a Warsaw student every year.  All proceeds will go to the Steve Baker Memorial Scholarship fund so that his legacy can live on.
