The Need
In May of 2022 Ryan Abbey began to experience the beginning signs of leukemia. After a series of tests and painful medical procedures, Ryan found out that he has a very rare and aggressive form of the cancer called acute myeloid leukemia. As someone who has rarely been sick in his life, this came as a huge shock to everyone.
As a hard working father to 5 children and husband of 20 years, he has always been the main source of income for his family. With his diagnosis, he learned he would most likely never be able to return to the job he held for 12 years in a career he had been in for over 20 years, or maybe even never work at all.
In December of 2022 he received a bone marrow transplant and must be away from his home, children and pets for almost 4 months. This has put a huge financial strain on the family. Any donations made through the purchase of a shirt will go directly to living costs and traveling back and forth to the hospital which is 50 miles from the family’s home.

The Artist
Joel Menter is a father, tattooer and illustrator from Buffalo, NY. He co-owns Stay Weird Tattoo and has probably tattooed someone you know. Because he is an obsessive compulsive collector of music Joel has also created many posters, album covers and logos for musicians around the world. He loves his family, his hometown and hockey!
