    The Need

    Travis, beneficiary

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, Kelly and Roger took their 17-year-old son Travis Strade to the Urgent Care because he wasn’t feeling right. She never expected what was about to unfold. Travis was swiftly transferred to the Medical Center as his condition changed.  He rapidly became paralyzed from the neck down and was taken into surgery. The doctors discovered that he had a very large blood clot in the epidural space in his spine and was diagnosed with a spontaneous epidural hematoma, not caused by trauma. This is *very* rare in a young person.

Travis has now undergone two surgeries and is currently at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for spinal rehab. He has since developed blood clots in his legs and pulmonary embolisms in both lungs but that isn’t stopping him from working hard to make progress. He was just fitted for a wheelchair, but still has no timeline on when he might start thinking about getting to go home. Travis has a great attitude for someone so young suddenly facing such a huge challenge. Medical bills and related expenses are obviously beginning to pile up, please consider a shirt purchase or donation to the family's online fundraiser.
