Connections for Abused Women and their Children (formerly the Chicago Abused Women Coalition) is a non-profit Chicago organization committed to ending domestic violence. For over 40 years, CAWC has been using a self-help, empowerment approach, to provide a shelter for women and children, and counseling, advocacy, and a 24-hour hotline for people affected by domestic violence. CAWC works for social change through education, service collaboration and institutional advocacy. CAWC continues to be a recognized leader in the domestic violence field both at the city and state level and known throughout Chicago for its emphasis on bi-cultural and bilingual services.
