    The Need

In 2018, at a mere 3 years old, Silas DeJarnette was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. If the doctors did not start treatment right away it would have quickly turned fatal. Silas soon after did two Bone Marrow Transplants inpatient at Oishei Children’s Hospital which accumulated to over two months in the hospital. Two years later, only a week before finishing treatment, Silas unfortunately relapsed. Silas and his dad Kenny traveled to Philadelphia for MIBG treatment to shrink the tumor before returning to Buffalo for the tumor resection. Once back in Buffalo, Silas had a craniotomy and three gamma knife radiation treatments. Currently, Silas is waiting to go to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City for another procedure called an Ommaya Reservoir where a port will be placed in his head. His father Kenny says, “You go from having a baby to feeling like you have a science experiment.” Kenny recognizes they are not out of the woods yet, but his mantra to Silas is: Stay Strong, Stay Tough, and Never Give Up. This journey has created an unbreakable and strong bond between Silas and his dad. Silas is a sweet, funny, active 6 year old that loves the Bills, all Buffalo sport teams, his twin brother Izaak; who has been extremely supportive, and his dog, Fendi. Please help show your support and be Strong As Silas! Please consider a shirt purchase or a donation to his online fundraiser.
