    The Need

Sophia LaBorde is a 12-year-old girl from Olean, NY. She’s currently in 7th grade and loves to hang out with her friends and family.  She is a smart, kind, beautiful girl who loves football and the Bills. She’s beautiful inside and out, and she would do anything to help those around her.  Unfortunately, she needs help right now herself, more than ever.

In June of 2022 Sophia was diagnosed with a rare type of liver cancer, Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma. This type of cancer is so rare that it’s believed to only affect 1 in 5,000,000 people in the US. Because it’s so rare, there isn’t currently a treatment plan for it. Thankfully, she was able to get into a clinical trial at Roswell and just finished up 8 rounds of chemo. By the time the cancer was found, it had already spread to her lungs and lymph nodes, so she currently isn’t eligible for surgery. The doctors are hoping that between chemo and radiation they’ll be able to shrink the lesions enough for them to be operable. Despite all of this, Sophia has maintained her faith throughout it all, and is extremely confident that she’s going to beat this!

Please consider a shirt purchase or donation to Sophia's online fundraiser.
