Diagnosed at 20 week gestation with Down syndrome and atrial ventricular septal defect, also known as AV Canal heart defect, Emily was born January 30th, 2016. She spent 2 weeks in the NICU before coming home. As time is going on, Emily is starting to show signs of distress. The Cepkauskas family has spent several nights at Hope Children's Hospital due to an overworked heart and dehydration. Emily is now on a feeding tube to help her gain her weight as she gets closer to her open heart surgery anticipated for early May. As scared as the family is, Emily will not make it to see 6 months old without this surgery.
The time spent away from work has put a huge strain on her family financially. Both mom and dad work 100% on commission and Emily has required mom to take a lot of unanticipated time off work. Nowhere else would they rather be than by their daughter's side in her time of need. "We just need her tiny broken heart fixed." Please consider a shirt purchase, or a donation to their online fundraiser.
