On April 24th, 2019 WNY native Joe Ryan was injured at a fire that occurred at Orchard Park Topsoil. Joe was working on a vehicle when an explosion occurred, the explosion engulfed Joe resulting in over 85% of his body being burned. Joe, only being 34 and a loving father of four children, is currently in critical condition at ECMC. Joe will remain at ECMC indefinitely and will require numerous surgeries to remove the affected tissues in order to allow him a chance to survive this horrific accident. To date, Joe has had already had seven surgeries to improve his quality of life. Joe will have continuous ongoing medical care while being at ECMC. This will be undeniably a long road for Joe, but through the love and support of his family, friends, coworkers and the WNY community we hope to give Joe a fighting chance, He has proved that he is a fighter and is continuing his will to survive this. We would like Joe to someday return home to be there for his children and continue his passion working as a mechanic and going hunting.
