Algonquin Sports for Kids, Inc. (AS for Kids) was founded in 2007 with the launch of Buffalo Soccer Club. Designed to create a safe environment for children in underserved communities, coaching staff brought the game of soccer to young athletes, eliminating the need for transportation. Rejecting the pay to play model, no child was turned away instead parents were asked to volunteer during practices. AS for Kids collaborated with the Independent Health Foundation to bring U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success program to our athletes in 2012. With our founding principles in mind, AS for Kids added tennis, creating a program that allowed for all children to participate in a non-team based sport. Starting as an outdoor program, our tennis program has since expanded to multiple Buffalo Public Schools. Since 2007, Algonquin Sports has grown to serve over 2,500 athletes annually with the support of the WNY community.
