    The Need

Tedy Wagner started his 2020 season like every other lax loving 10 year old. After months of enduring the pandemic shut down, summer lacrosse had finally arrived. Tedy was excited to be with his lax buddies again, and was looking forward to practices and tournaments. His plans were drastically altered when in mid August he started to experience swelling and other related issues. Tedy’s parents took him to the doctors, and after many tests and some hospital time, they received a diagnosis they never imagined. At 10 years old, Tedy was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy (RCM). In short, RCM is when the heart muscle becomes rigid and unable to relax and fill with blood, causing pressure to build resulting in abnormal heart rhythms and symptoms of heart failure.

While Tedy’s symptoms are being managed with medicine, he will ultimately require a heart transplant. His team of doctors and nurses are working hard to manage Tedy’s condition to prolong the need for the transplant surgery. One thing remains clear, Tedy will be unable to return to the field to play any physical contact sports, especially not his one true passion- lacrosse. As you can imagine this news is heartbreaking for Tedy, his family, friends and teammates. Tedy is strong and has taken all this news like a champ. His parents and his sister, Morgan, are rock stars in all that they do to support Tedy, while trying to maintain some normalcy day-to-day. As time goes on the expense of Tedy’s heart journey will financially impact the Wagner family. We want to help!
